Wow! What a week! Power outages, traffic jams, creepy crawlies...oh my! Yes, is was definitely the first week of school. But we all survived! The kiddos were so flexible and did a great job of "going with the flow". I've been super impressed with their behavior and eagerness to please. We've been given many compliments and already added 2 dots to our Behavior Bingo Board. Yay!
We also had a great discussion about feelings and how the things we say can affect others. I did the "Wrinkled Heart" activity which is a great visual for show the kids how when they say mean things to each other, it puts a wrinkle in your heart. Even if you say sorry the heart will never go back to how it was before. This is a great analogy to use at home as well. I also explained to the kids how our classroom is a "No Put Down Zone". Saying things to intentionally hurt others will not be tolerated! If a student in our class says a "Put Down" to another student, they must say apologize and say two "Put Ups".
