Classroom Clip Chart

This year we will be using a clip chart to help manage classroom behavior. All students begin each day on green - Ready to Learn. The students will move their clip up or down depending on their choices that day. The thing that I like best about this tool is that students who are going above and beyond normal classroom expectations get the opportunity to move up too (not just stuck on green)! Also if a student moves down, they have the opportunity to make better choices and work their way back up.

Here are explanations of each color:

If a student earns their way all the up to pink they add a special decoration to their clip and receive a special note to take home. The class cheers for these students at the end of every day!

Students that move up to blue and purple are going above and beyond what is expected of them. Some examples we've had this year - sitting silently when others around them are talking at an inappropriate time, picking up trash off the floor without being asked, and being an extra special friend to someone in need.

All students begin their day on green. They will move their clip up or down depending on their choices.

Students move to yellow as a reminder that they need to follow the classroom rules. This comes after a warning has been given.

When students move to orange they take a break from the group until they are ready to follow the classroom rules again. They must fill out a "Think About It Sheet" and this will be brought home to be signed and returned to school the next day.

The red section is for the most severe behavior choices. If a student is required to move to here, a parent contact will be made and possibly the Principal as well. A student may move to this section at any time based of the severity of their behavior.

Please review our Student Handbook for more information about our Student Conduct Policies. If I feel that the behavior warrants it, I will give DPS points for unacceptable behavior. Conduct grades will be awarded as follows:

Conduct Grade Legend

E = Demonstrates Excellence - Green, Blue, Purple, Pink
S = Developing Satisfactorily - Yellow, Orange
N = Needs Support - Orange, Red

Don't forget to check your child's behavior calendar each night!!
