National Bullying Prevention Week

To coincide with National Bullying Prevention Awareness week, our class took a closer look into the national epidemic of bullying. We read Stop Picking on Me and Giraffes Can't Dance, role-played, and wrote about friendship. We practiced some different techniques to use when dealing with a bully including;

1. Walk away
2. Tell an adult

3. Change the subject

4. Say "I don't like it when you_____! Please Stop!"


It is also very important that you are having conversations about bullying at home. I always will see an increase of students who think that they are being bullied after we have this discussion, so keep that in mind. I also wanted my students to understand how important it is to stand up for someone that they see being bullied. Bullying could be cut by 80% if other students would intervene and take a stand! It is key to not only talk with your child about to do if they are being bullied, but what to do if they see it happening.
